My LibriVox recordings & my reading journal (solo Litblog).

Do you want more World War Z movie news? okay then, here’s another update.

World War ZI’m not going to get obsessive about the movie, and thank you but no, a few updates does NOT make me obsessed. But, I thought that it was interesting that the movie has switched location from Falmouth, England to Glasgow and other locations in Scotland (until the end of August 2011). Apparently, filming also took place in Continue reading

World War Z movie news; and about time too!

World War Z
WARNING: This post is highly opinionated and is likely to be taken with a pinch of salt and a spoonful of sugar. Thank you for your attention and feel free to ignore the majority of my ranting at your discretion.

MTV Movies Blog apparently had an exclusive scoop (not sure on the exclusivity side of that claim) about the World War Z movie.
It can be found at this link.

All I can say is that it took “them” long enough.

I can remember the author, the brilliant Max Brooks, saying that J. Michael Straczynski, was writing A script but then it all went dead (no pun intended) after that. Continue reading

World War Z notes; Goodbyes chapters 11, 12 & 13. The End.

World War Z

Part 8, Goodbyes; Chapter 11, Jurgen Warmbrunn.

I was in the “Kindertransport,” the last chance to get Jewish children out of Germany. That was the last time I saw any of my family alive.

I can understand why he was a part of this task force, as a German Jew he would want to save as many of his people as possible, but why only Jewish children?

Colour me stupid if you wish, but given the circumstances, wouldn’t it be more advantageous to save as many children as possible? regardless of their creed, nationality or shoe size?

But then, maybe that’s just me.

It’s interesting to read about his comparisons between WWZ survivors and those who survived the Holocaust of WWII.

I’ve heard it said that the Holocaust has no survivors, that even those who managed to remain technically alive were so irreparably damaged…

All things considered, the survivors of WWZ had the easier deal compared to the few Holocaust survivors.

Zombies don’t care whom they eat. They are completely unprejudiced.

Can’t say the same for the Nazi SS though. Continue reading this post

World War Z notes; Goodbyes chapters 8, 9 & 10

Part 8, Goodbyes; Chapter 8, Arthur Sinclair, Junior.

Arthur has gone from very important job-role, running DeStRes, to becoming a money cop. His job is no less undesirable or difficult, probably more on both counts. I can’t quite get my head ’round the amount of work this man has to do both now and in the foreseeable future.
It seems he is trying, and possibly succeeding, in regaining faith in the American dollar & the banks. People are starting to move their hard-earned cash (pre & post war) from their Havanan havens to banks on in their home country.
Part of Arthur’s new job is to sort out the honest folk from those who are not so honest in their financial acquisitions.
Not exactly an envious job and one that very few individuals are any good at. Luckily, Arthur is not only trusted but reliably trustworthy and as a former SEC chairman, he knows the ropes. No need for re-training like with his former DeStRes job.

Of all the jobs I’ve done, being a money cop was best.

One of the more satisfying job-related moments has yet to come, though he is anticipating it.

Breckinridge Scott, yes, the Phalanx king, still hiding like a rat in his Antarctic Fortress of Scumditude.

A lot of people back home are waiting to see him, particularly the IRS.
[He grins and rubs his hands together.]
