My LibriVox recordings & my reading journal (solo Litblog).

2013, Happy (belated) New Year, or “I guess they misinterpreted the end of the Mayan calendar then”

wow.
Um, wow!
Happy 2013 to everyone, everywhere.
I wish you all, peace, contentment and one smile a day (minimum).

Now for a quick rant…
As the title of this post hints, this mud-ball we call Earth seems to have dodged the bullet.
I have to admit, I’m a tad disappointed that nothing even remotely extraordinary happened on December 21st. I blame the mass media for scaring away any potential planetary fireworks. But then again, all the children were very happy to be able to open their presents and then later gorge themselves stupid on turkey and sweets. At least in this 1st world country they did, but try telling this to certain under 16′s who are just dying to tear into the latest video game. It just goes way over their heads.
Just another Christmas then. Another oxymoron event that was both boring and fun, with a slight case of nausea, both physically and intellectually.
I wouldn’t mind, but I’m not even remotely religious (in the terms of organised religions), but again, children just don’t want to hear that I don’t celebrate this holiday or any other religious event.
All they want is the presents!
The little dears ( < hint of sarcasm, for those who weren't sure).

With all this Christmass'y stuff, I just didn't have time before to update here.
This is, of course, now rectified, and the 2012 LibriVox page is complete.

As for my LibriVox contributions, I admit that last year was a little thin on recordings. As soon as I pluck up the courage to go solo with a (very) small book of poetry, I hope to gain a bit of confidence and do more recording this year. As well as contributing to the weekly poems.
I've also re-charged my ebook and loaded the thing up with a few books to read and make notes on. I'm giving up trying to decide on what to read, which did not work for me at all last year, and instead I’m just going to pick one at random from scraps of paper out of a bag.
Sometimes old school is the only way to do things.

Signing off, got to record and upload my first weekly poem project of the year.
Thanks for reading, and putting up with my mini rant.
Goodbye for now!
